I've been promising to try to knit myself a pair of socks ever since I heard about the Welsh Traveling Socks from Autumn House Farm , but despite everyone's comments about how wonderful and fast the pattern is, I've been intimidated. Short rows sound kinda tricky.
But I'm finally jumping in with both feet, or will as soon as I finish the socks...which hopefully won't be long after I start them.
Like a good cook, I began by amassing my ingredients: yarn (one skein of Trekking XXL, in a subtly varied cobalt blue), needles (size 1 and looking very tiny)—both from Loop and Leaf and feet (already attached).
I took a picture of my tootsies, too, but decided they were better left to your imagination.
And I'm off! Gale will be in Santa Barbara in a few weeks, and I'm counting on her to bail me out of any difficulties. And in case of total disaster, I guess I could always use the needles for a quick game of pick up stix.
I love Autumn House Farm -- wanted to see their Welsh Traveling Socks, but can't pinpoint where to look on their site. Tell me more?

You can do it Joan! Short rows are much easier than they sound.

The Welsh Traveling Socks were done for Shear Spirit. You can see lots of examples, though, by searching with that name on Ravelry.
